Many years ago, I learned that the answer to fighting poverty was community collaboration. No one sector (government, business, or social) could solve long-term problems like homelessness alone. The problem is complicated and requires expertise and resources from multiple partners.
I’ve spent the last 20 years putting this idea into action:
Building affordable housing with tax credits and special financing;
Implementing redevelopment with local governments;
Participating in and researching small start-up programs in prisoner re-entry, childcare, food distribution, and the arts in long-neglected neighborhoods;
Starting a college-track program for poor Latinx children in Barrio Logan;
Developing programs in partnership with business to put people to work; and,
Ending homelessness through multi-disciplinary strategies.
I bring my experience with nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, and elected officials to helping you solve your problems.
